Top Ten Vitamins, Part I: Supplements Every Person Needs for Health, Nutrition, Anti-Aging, Athletes Too

Since I was sending notes from lectures that I give to colleagues today I thought I’d include notes on my typical ten, the top ten, supplement recommendations for anti-aging and hormone therapy support for the usual hormone customer.  I do get a lot of questions on fish oil and it’s in my top five list of nutrients that every man, woman, and child should use as a supplement.  The supplements we use are from cGMP manufacturers which ensures the highest possible quality.

Our on-line store will soon list these products, ones we are confident in recommending because they are the real supplements people need, all medical/pharmaceutical quality, have nutrients in the most absorbable and biochemically active forms at doses that really mean something.  It’s not enough to just have an important vitamin or mineral, you must take one that actually gets into your bloodstream and then into the cell to do it’s thing and that only happens if you use the right stuff at a dose that is high enough.  Athletes have much greater metabolic demands so they often need more of just the basics.

  1. Fish Oil (omega-3s): 6000mg to 9000mg per day
  2. Vitamin D (D3 form only):  5,000 IUs per day as a capsule or 1, 2, or 3 drops of a high potency liquid under the tongue
  3. CoQ10:  Only in crystal-free form with nano-particles dissolved in oil capsules.  100mg to 400mg per day.
  4. Magnesium:  300mg to 600mg per day, up to 1200mg per day for serious athletes of a special form called magnesium glycerinate.  Magnesium oxide and magnesium carbonate are basically useless.  They’re cheap, but useless.
  5. Vitamin C:  Must include trace minerals and bioflavinoids.  5,000mg to 10,000mg per day

Nutrient deficiency in the US is rampant and we are in a terrible state of micronutrient depletion, all of us, especially athletes.  We will post diligently on our blog the best information we know of to guide your supplementation regimen on your path to better health, better workouts, and better sports performance.

Don’t forget that we also post regularly on our fitness blog, www.betterfitnessusa.com.  Go there to find some of the best kettlebell workouts, including a great kettlebell workout for women to burn fat.  Now that we are getting very close to the new year most hard working individuals in America will be looking to save money on any purchase.  Women all over the United States will be seeking sales and deals and it should come as no surprise that some of these individuals are looking for WalMart New Years Sales 2012 as there are always smoking hot deals to start the new year.
